Getting Started
Welcome to HisMap! Here are the basic steps to get started:
- •Register: Click the 'Sign Up' button in the top right corner and fill in your email and password
- •Browse Maps: Explore historical maps created by other users on the homepage or map gallery
- •Create Map: After logging in, click 'Create Map' to start making your first historical map
Creating Maps
Creating a new historical map is simple. Follow these steps:
- •Click the 'Create Map' button in the navigation bar to enter the map editor
- •Set basic map information including title, description, and tags
- •Choose a base map style, add layers and markers, then save and publish
Layer Management
Layers are an important way to organize map content. You can:
- •Create multiple layers to categorize different types of geographic features
- •Adjust layer display order and visibility
- •Set different styles and colors for each layer
Sharing Maps
Share your maps with others or embed them in other websites:
- •Click the 'Share' button on the map detail page to get the share link
- •Set map visibility (public, private, or link-only)
- •Copy the embed code to embed the map in your website or blog
Collaborative Editing
Invite others to edit maps together for team collaboration:
- •Add collaborator email addresses in map settings
- •Set collaborator permissions (view, edit, or manage)
- •Collaborators will receive an invitation email and can start collaborating after accepting
Search Features
Quickly find the maps and content you need:
- •Use the top search bar to search for maps by keywords
- •Use filters to narrow results by time, region, or tags
- •Click search results to view map details or open for editing
Account Settings
Manage your profile and account preferences:
- •Click your avatar to access your profile and edit personal information
- •Change password and notification preferences in settings
- •Manage your created maps and saved content
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I edit a published map?
Go to the map detail page and click the 'Edit' button to enter edit mode. Save your changes to update the map content.
Can maps be exported?
Yes, you can export maps as image formats (PNG/JPG) or data formats (GeoJSON). Click the export button in the map editor to select the export format.
How do I delete a map?
On the map detail page or in your profile's map list, click the map's settings menu and select 'Delete'. Please note that deletion cannot be undone.
What if I forget my password?
Click the 'Forgot Password' link on the login page, enter your registered email, and we'll send a password reset link to your inbox.
