Welcome to HisMap (hereinafter referred to as "the Platform"). Please read the following terms of service carefully before using the services provided by the Platform. By registering an account or using the Platform, you agree to comply with these terms.

1. Service Description

The Platform is a historical map browsing and collaborative editing platform operated by Zhejiang University, providing users with services for creating, editing, sharing, and browsing historical maps. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate part or all of the services at any time.

2. Account Registration

Some features of the Platform require account registration. When registering, you agree to:

  • Provide true, accurate, and complete registration information
  • Keep your account password secure and be responsible for all activities under your account
  • Not transfer or authorize others to use your account
  • Notify us immediately if you discover unauthorized use of your account

3. User Content and Intellectual Property

This section governs the intellectual property rights of content you create on the Platform. Please read carefully:

3.1 Content Ownership

All maps, layers, annotations, data, and other content (collectively "User Content") that you create, upload, or publish on the Platform shall be owned by the Platform. By creating content, you agree to transfer the relevant intellectual property rights to the Platform.

3.2 License to Use

Following the transfer of intellectual property rights, the Platform grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to continue using, displaying, and editing the content you created on the Platform. This license may be revoked by the Platform at any time.

3.3 Platform Rights

The Platform has the right to use, copy, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, display User Content, and create derivative works for Platform operations, promotion, academic research, and other purposes, without further notice or compensation.

4. Code of Conduct

When using the Platform, you agree not to engage in the following activities:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on others' intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other legal rights
  • Post false, misleading, defamatory, obscene, or harmful content
  • Send spam or engage in unauthorized commercial promotion
  • Interfere with or disrupt the normal operation of the Platform
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your relationship with any person or entity

5. Platform Rights

To maintain Platform order and protect user rights, the Platform reserves the following rights:

  • Modify, delete, or refuse to publish any User Content
  • Remove content that violates these terms or applicable laws
  • Suspend or restrict accounts of users who violate these terms
  • Terminate services for users with serious violations

6. Disclaimer

The Platform provides services "as is" without any express or implied warranties:

  • No guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or reliability of User Content
  • No guarantee that services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
  • No responsibility for third-party links or content
  • No liability for any losses resulting from use of the Platform

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform and its operators, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data loss, or damage to goodwill.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Modified terms will be posted on the Platform, and continued use of the Platform indicates your acceptance of the modified terms. For significant changes, we will notify you through appropriate means.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved through friendly negotiation; if negotiation fails, either party may file a lawsuit with the competent people's court in the jurisdiction where the Platform operator is located.
